UGA’s Animal Care and Use Program, which is accredited by AAALAC International (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care), oversees and provides professional and technical support for researchers and research programs utilizing animals in scientific investigation and instruction. In addition, the program acts as a support structure for UGA’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), ensures the that optimal care and facilities are provided for all research animals, and provides professional and technical assistance, staff training and consultation on research and protocol development.
