About the George H. Boyd Distinguished Lecture
The George H. Boyd Distinguished Lecture, initiated in 2005, brings national leaders and policy makers in science, education and related fields to the university to talk about applications of research to contemporary issues.
The lecture is named for Dr. George Boyd (1891 -1965), a parasitologist who dedicated his life to education and research. During his 33-year association with the University of Georgia, Dr. Boyd served as head of the zoology (now cellular biology) department, chairman of Biological Sciences, dean of the Graduate School and the first director of General Research.
The series is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research with support from The William S. and Elizabeth K. Boyd Foundation.
