Lars G. Ljungdahl
Professor of Biochemistry and Microbiology

Lamar Dodd Award

Lars Ljungdahl’s study of acetate-producing, thermophilic bacteria could potentially solve a number of ecological concerns. He and Harland G. Wood illuminated the “Autotrophic Ljungdahl-Wood Pathway,” a distinctive pathway for acetate sythesis. Internationally honored, Ljungdahl received the Hunboldt Preis for Research and Teaching in Germany and was elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
