William J. Thompson
Professor of Art (Deceased)

Albert Christ-Janer Award

As a sculptor of bronze, William J. Thompson used Christian images to examine humanity’s purpose. He taught sculpture at the University of Georgia for 25 years before retirement. Reviews of his work, such as the one in the journal Apelles, describe his sculptures as filled with “energy” and a “state of suspended animation.”
