UGARF funds three named awards of $2500 each for an outstanding body of scholarly or creative activities that has gained national and international recognition.
The Albert Christ-Janer Award for work in the arts and humanities.
Albert-Christ Janer was an artist who became the first Professor of Art at the University of Georgia in 1970. The prize includes one of his lithographs.
The Lamar Dodd Award for work in the sciences.
Lamar Dodd was a UGA Professor of Art whose work included commissions by NASA and the Department of the Interior to record scientific achievements. The prize also includes a signed and numbered print of Dodd’s painting “World”.
The William A . Owens Award for work in the social and behavioral sciences.
William A. Owens was a professor whose many accomplishments included the founding of UGA’s Institute for Behavioral Research. The prize also includes a print by William Thompson, a former Professor in the UGA School of Art.
