UGARF provides support for the most junior faculty--instructors and assistant professors who have tenure-track appointments and permanent assistant research scientists. Priority is placed on the “seed funding” concept to develop research initiatives with potential for extramural funding. Proposals are reviewed in the following areas: Basic Life Sciences, Applied Life Sciences, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Professional and Applied Studies. Selection Process: Peer review by faculty committees in each field who make funding recommendations to the Vice President for Research.
