Human Subjects

The Human Subjects Office (HSO) assists UGA faculty, staff, and students in meeting the highest ethical and professional standards when conducting research with human subjects. HSO performs professional and administrative functions in support of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the research oversight committee charged with ensuring that human subjects research is conducted in compliance with the applicable federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.

eResearch Portal for IRB (Click IRB)

The new eResearch Portal for Institutional Research Board (IRB) went live on Thursday, May 30, 2013. This portal for submission and processing of human subjects research protocols has been in limited deployment for several weeks and will be available for general use on that date.

Beginning May 30, 2013, only the eResearch Portal for IRB can be used for submissions. Paper submissions will be accepted through close of business on Monday, June 3.

  1. If you need to create a request for continuing review or modification to an IRB study that was approved prior to the Click IRB implementation, please contact the Human Subjects Office (HSO) at or 706-542-3199 before you attempt to create the submission.  To facilitate this process, HSO staff will update the existing records and provide other important information.
  2. If you have not already done so, login to CITI via the UGA CITI Login Portal to associate your CITI training records with your UGAID.
  3. Please visit the Click IRB GeaR page for more information or contact Kim Fowler at
