Need help?

  Are you...

a UGA researcher?

an outside researcher?

a student?

from industry?

Or are you simply interested in UGA research?

The Research Communications Office at the University of Georgia is part of the Office of the Vice President for Research. Located on the seventh floor of the George H. Boyd Graduate Research Studies building, RCOMM provides information about UGA research to diverse and key audiences through a variety of media.

The office publishes the biannual UGA Research Magazine, an award-winning glossy magazine that features the work of UGA researchers on a campus-wide and global scale, as well as a multitude of brochures and summary publications like Research Facts, an abbreviated version of the year’s annual report.  RCOMM also maintains UGA research’s web presence through outlets such as the Research News Releases and Research by Topic, a search engine for UGA science and scholarly endeavors.

RCOMM staff members also coordinate lectures and events like the George H. Boyd Lecture through OVPR, design media kits for various events and resources on campus, author and edit news releases, media advisories and researcher biographies for UGA’s annual Creative Research Awards, and release a monthly newsletter, Research Newsletter, that spotlights funding and commercialization opportunities and other research administration items.

RESEARCH NEWS

RESEARCH COMMUNICATIONS GROUP

The Research Communications Group was formed in 2001 to achieve better cross-campus communication regarding research issues important to UGA faculty and staff.  Members of RCG are responsible for helping researchers manage and administer research programs, whether by coordinating funding efforts or aiding in publicity campaigns. RCG members are constantly on the alert for ways to enhance and improve research and the research experience at UGA, and serve as efficient conduits for interdepartmental research communications. RCG is also responsible for proactive work that will result in new and improved services, policies and procedures.  Each dean at UGA appoints a representative to RCG, and OVPR requires that all OVPR senior representatives attend RCG’s monthly meetings.

RCG meets every the second Wednesday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Boyd GSRC OVPR conference room (628).

For further information, contact Jeanne Cochran.

UGA ugaresearch

The UGA Research Magazine is published twice a year and spotlights scientific and scholarly endeavors across the UGA research spectrum.  The magazine has a circulation of roughly 40,000, and scientific media publications, aspirant institutions, state and national legislators, alumni and UGA faculty and research staff are among those receiving the publication.  Through national dissemination of research and progress at UGA, the magazine brings the university into media and educational attention and encourages inter-institutional interactions involving UGA researchers and students.
