Abstract:

The National Institutes of Health  solicits  proposals for research on health promotion, disease prevention, and health disparities that is jointly conducted by communities and researchers and targets medically underserved areas (MUAs) and medically underserved populations (MUPs)as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Community-based participatory research (CBPR) is defined as scientific inquiry conducted in communities and in partnership with researchers. CBPR is characterized by substantial community input in the development of the grant application.
