The National Pork Board solicits project proposals in the areas of swine health, environment, animal welfare and international trade. Projects are sought focusing on Immunology, Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, Diagnostics, and Prevention and Treatment of Porcine Circovirus Associated Disease (PCVAD); environmental factors affecting industrial pork production such as potential air contaminants in rural agricultural environments; quantification of emissions of methane, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and particulate matter due from pork production operations; quantification of water quality impacts of nutrients, hormones and common antibiotics used in swine operations to surface and groundwater water; on-farm water conservation management practices; and on issues affecting the welfare of swine; particularly on-farm euthanasia and gestation sow housing. See above link for details on priority areas.
